Probe Pistons??? What do you know about these???

I know of a few of the 5.0 Mustang guys that have run there stuff with very good results if that helps ya! I personally prefer to run J&E pistons in my builds! Just my .02!

The 2 original owners of Probe both were at ROSS for many years, one of the owners being the step son of Moe that owns Ross. Both have been around the piston mfg business. They did there homework before they launched the product line. Their head engineer Shawn Mendenhaul is a personal friend and a very sharp person. They make pistons for a few compaines to market as their own. The "pucks" come from the same Alcola plant that other piston mfg use. It is a good all around affordable piston.

I also know a guy who was in the machine shop and Mustang racing.
He had only good things to say about their stuff.

I run forged probe pistons in my blown 496. I blew a connecting rod bearing, but the pistons held up fine and I reused them... no problems.

KB pistons are reboxed China pistons. :confused1

Being from China, they probably have a large lead content. :laugher:

I didn't find any info from KB about silicone content. One man told me that he understood the KB's to swell a lot and maybe to much

Probe does say that their product has a high silicone content to minimize growth.


Lead might not be so bad as it could control detonation :clown:
