i have a 92 35 fountain when i got it the props were off i put them on turning in must be wrong because i had to put the drives in rev to go forward, vice versa, what is the diff will it be faster with them turning out. it has 27 mmirage props. it blows out the props easy but once you get rolling a feather the throttle it hooks up and hauls a..

Once you figure out which way they work best, if the gear handle is backward, you can pull them out of the dash and in about 10 minutes have it fixed. Basically where the cable attaches can be reversed.

i have them turned in now ,but it cavitates badly getting on plane, then at 35mph if u stabb the throttle it blows out. but once it bites it runs hard. the fountain guys say the older fountains pre step hulls run better turnning out i will find out this weekend. just wondering if any one else ever toyed with rotations:chinese:

I found much the same,
My theory (not that I'm a major expert) is that if you're spinning out & land on the side the boat will straighten up better than if spinning in due to the torque twist,
Seems to sorta work for me anyway ........
Talking about v-hulls here of course.

ON my 39' express cat they turn in . Thats the way they were from new in 1988. I want to try them the other way but I have 1 reverse rotation motor and I will have to swap engines, trans , and drives to try it !:confused1

The boat leans to the outside of the turns now with the props turning in, due to the direction of the blades . It is not a real comfortable feeling .

Bravo drives have same gears for forward and reverse so TRS drives wont be capable of this
Bravo's have the one shifter at the stick with cable mounted backwards for this feature, just swap props, and basically try reverse for forward and then forward for reverse to give it a whirl
then find out what you like and the characteristics and if a change is in order on a bravo, then just swap the cables one front to back and one back to front
boom done!

johnnyboatman,

You need to turn the props out on a non-stepped Fountain. I'll try to get some prop info for you. I run 4 blade Bravo1's turning in on my '97. They never break loose. I'm not sure if they will work for you. Give Jeff Harris at Fountain a call and he could point you the right way. 252-975-7007 Marty at Fountain is also a good source of info.

a friend of mine works for mercruiser and he talks to the fountain factory guys on a regular they said it {non step
hull] runs faster turning out. also they suggested changing from mirage props to hydromotives said the boat should pickup a few more mph.

I spoke with my friend and he agrees on the Hydromotive’s. I'd try what you have running out and see what the performance is. If you decide to try the Hydro's make sure you use a prop shop that demo's props. It can get expensive if you chose the incorrect props. I'd also try a set of Bravo's. You may lose a mph or two but the overall performance in the midrange is worth it. What engines do you have? Is your gear ratio 1.5?

[colori=#00ffb6][/color]i have 500hp 502s 1.50 ratio when i ran it it turned about 4900rpm the guy where i bought it said they turned it at 53-5400rpm also the guy at derryberry performance said the hull was much faster turning out, and to deffinetly change to hydromotives for some improvements

johnnyboatman,
35Lighting from the other board has the same power. He is currently running a 23 Hydro and is going to a 24 this year. I'm not sure about on his gear ratio. I'm sure you will have less cavitation with the Hydro's. Let us know how she runs with the props turning out.
