Does anyone know FOR SURE what the rev-limiter is set at on a 7.4 MPI? (not Magnum).
The Mercury owners manual states that operating range is 4200-4600 RPM. I am pulling 4650 rpm now and am speaking with a prop shop about blueprinting. He wanted to know what my rpm limit was....

???

The rpm guage is known to be off a little, I have the same motors, min peg the limiter at 4600, everytime I hit it, you can feel the engine back off. My motors say 4200-4600 on them, so I would guess your the exact same.:D

I have a 7.4 LX MPI 330 php 350 crank HP . reads 4200-4600 range and according to the book, rev limiter hits at 4700. It would not suprize me to see your tach off that far.

I installed manifolds the other day, and it pulls pretty hard now. For the first time ever, I hit the rev limiter yesterday. Tach was reading 4650 when the boat shuttered and fell on it`s face. So 4700 sounds right to me.
Thanks to all for the replys....
