My boat originally had and OMC 5.7 260 horse with a points distributor. I rebuilt the whole motor, got rid of my dist. thinking i wasnt ever gonna use it again. As the season came i was low on money and couldnt afford to buy a pro billit dist. I was told i could use a dist. with a magnetic pick up with the msd. i found a marine thunderbolt dist. hooked it up and couldnt get the motor started. i did the tests, found out that the msd box is fine, now what do i do? a new pick up is $65. is this gonna work? I also noticed that this distributor doesnt have any kind of advancment. Can this dist. work or do i need to go another avenue. any help or life experiances would be great.

Are you still using the omc out drive and if so will you be using the shift interrupter?I don't think you will be able to shift the out drive in and out of gear with out it.

yes i still am using the OMC outdrive. I do know that im gonna not be able to shift at this time.

Are you using the Merc TB distributor and MSD box in conjunction with a Merc advance module? If not your problem is right there.

Merc modules for V8's are 22 or 24 advance. V6's 14*.
