sea strainer info

Its a 29 foot boat with twins and its tight back there,I cant mount them on the stringers so I was thinking of mounting them on the transom,do I want to keep them low or can I mount them a little on the high side??

well this is just my own opinion but i hate drilling into stringers. I just think if you can get by without giving water any chance to enter the stringers your better off. Yeah I know if you seal everything up properly you should not have any issues. Neverless it scares me and I think if you can mount them another way your better off.
