Sign the Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less Petition to lower gas prices

$4.50 a gallon going in the boat sucks!!! And it's getting worse!!

This doesn't matter who you are voting for, sign the petition. As gas prices continue to increase, Congress continues to blame others while ignoring practical steps to stop the pain Americans are feeling at the pump. To lower gasoline prices and reduce our dependence on foreign oil, we need real solutions to our energy challenges.

China is now drilling for oil with Cuba 60 miles off our Florida Coast.......Why the hell aren't we? We need to get of foreign oil now!!

You can add Mexico and Venezuela and other countries to the list taking from our coast
I like this and I'll sign it but it will not reduce crude oil prices for a few years. See my thread on getting Better mpg now!!!!

Jeff I realize it won't but we need to get started. If we start drilling watch the ********* start lowering their prices.

PS. this is a huge topic and directly affects boating I'm really surprised you moved this to off topic.
I'll say it here too (probably not the most popular comment) but...
The oil companies do NOT need the OBSENE profits. I don't believe giving more area to drill will lower my price at the pump.
The oil companies have as much right to make money as any other buisness out there, the government doesnt like to tell you how much money they brought in from fuel taxes in a year and you dont see much from that money spent. Congress has investegated oil companies many times now and could find no wrong doing. They make lots of profit because there selling lots of oil, but the profit margin is only about 9 cents on the dollar. Most banks are 30 cents on the dollar. The biggest reason crude is so high right now is speculation investing. I still believe we need to find new sources of energy, but we will still need oil for a long time and looking for, and retriving oil to keep pace with demand only seems logical.
Drill already, this country is probably the least supportive and most imposing on business of all the industrialized world. Everyone is so damn concerned about the environmental impacts of drilling yet with other countries drilling I wonder who would be more responsible, a US company with back breaking regulation and safety standards or a country with little to no concern for environment and safety? But I guess like everything else, we will sit on it and sit on it and let everyone beat us to it and our dependance on foreign oil will continue. I am well aware of the fact that if we start today it will be several years untill we are putting that energy in our vehicles, but if we don't start now it will be even longer, and who knows what fuel prices will be by then.
OPEC hasn't increased production since 2005 and they have no intention to do so.

They aint gonna kill the "Golden Goose".

Really ?

I'll tell you for one, the shareholders like it
I'll second that chaos! But I believe they might like even better being able to extract from friendly territories.

I hope they drive Toyota Hybrids or the money they are making unless they have a buttload of stock is going back in the tank and back to the oil companies. I don't mind Oil companies making money, but when our govornment stands in the way of progress I get pissed, especialy when I know that many of them, republican and Democrat, are constantly being courted by them and many are also invested heavily with oil as well.

You are exactly right...... If global demand keeps increasing as everyone expects it to. They have a guarantee for increasing profits.......
we get 7% of our energy from Nuclear power, most european countries are anywhere from 50-75% from Nuclear.

and it does matter who you vote for, The Democrats wouldnt allow a vote on drillling this week.

Jeff, the arguement that it wont help for years is rediculous, are we going to need oil in a few years? Yes!

Natural Gas prices has risen from $2 last year to $13, this country has some much natural gas it isnt funny. Just wait till next winter when you heat your home at $13 per thousand and your used to $2 per thousand
and Politicians do respond if they think they are going to lose their job,
the idea that oil companies are the evil ones is very naive and uninformed, as long as China is willing to buy all the oil they need at these prices the price wont go down. Unlike the past, the US is not the big dog we used to be when it comes to consumption.
