I hate to spend money on my truck or house which are essential I complain about fuel consumption in my truck but I never complain about putting money into the boat or the amount of fuel it consumes but boating if defiantly an expensive hobby you either live for the lifestyle or you get a boat because you think it will be fun and find yourself selling it because of cost hope you stick with it :)

A wise surveyor once told me "Ah, that will cost about Boat Buck". With a confused look on my face I asked...."What is a boat buck"?

He replied, "A thousand, a thousand dollars is equal to one Boat Buck"!

I agree, if you have the mechanical skills to perform most of the maintenance on your boat yourself you can save yourself alot of money, plus you don't have to wait until the shop can fit it in, and you know it was done right. Plus there's no more powerful motivation to get it fixed than a broken boat in the middle of the season, especially up north here.

Welcome to boating, Yes it can get expensive, but if you keep it stock and keep it well maintained it's really not so bad, but it's kinda of a live & learn experience, and has many rewards too, so If you treat it nice it will return the favor. If you want to play with the big boy's, you better have some deep pockets.
If you are really new to boating, I would suggest you pick up a copy of "Chapman's Boating & Seamanship" and get as much info you can on your boat and propulsion systems and read, it's money well spent. :)
