I can`t say anything bad about the hull. As a former Sutphen owner, I can tell you that they are one of the most solid hulls built --- and I don`t think anyone will argue that.

The engines / drives are what I`d be most concerned about.

For a rough water boat, you simply cannot go wrong with a Sutphen.

There was a thread on OSO recently asking what is the best rough water boat made and the Sutphen name came up more than any other.

Thanks for the update. The boat is a 97 redone in 06. I am not sure what the engines are but I think they are 454 with blowers pushing 550hp. Bravo One out-drives. I have talked to the dealer that is brokering the boat and he said it was in top shape. I am hoping to me with the owner next week. If I like what I hear and see. I will start with a mechanical inspection and survey.

Now I just need to sell my boat and get a lift.

I know the boat and the owner of the boat your looking at. He actually lives down the street from me as well as the boat by all it does is sit in his garage and he cleans it. I think it's only been used twice this year. The motors are top knotch and run strong. For a 33 ft boat you cant beat a Sutphen!!! Good luck. Im sure the owner will make you a good deal.

It look like I might be a owner of a 97 Sutphen. Worked out a deal and now just waiting on survey and test drive. :D I do hold all of you responsible for this decision. :p:

Ok the survey came in and it pass with flying colors not its just the sea trial.

If anyone out there has some sutphen pic or videos please post I am getting impatient.

The video is my Sutphen Ocean Pacer. The one difference that I noticed between my Sutphen and the Scarab is the width of the boat. The Sutphen seems much wider, and it is quite heavy. It requires a bunch of horsepower to push it. I have 1100 horsepower in my Sutphen.

Overall, I am happy with it, but I think that i am going to need Bravo 1 props to lift the stern as it is dragging with the Mirages that are on it now.

I'm new to the Sutphen line is the Ocean Pacer a 30'.

Right now it has 1100 HP. The X demintion is high on it. Very little trim is need to bring the stern up. The test drive I did seem very level. I don't know what the props are but Bravo 1 sound right. The prop are also spining outward so it give the stern a little lift also.

Sutphen says a 30' Ocean Pacer weighs 5800# dry. You could probably figure 7000# full of fuel and equipment.

My Sutphen did not like Mirage props. I was running Bravos. It would blow out 3 blade props.

Very little, if any trim is needed to get the boat to ride right.

I had a 31 with a pair of 610 hp KE's that ran 95-96. Fastest wheel I had was a 27P 3 blade Mirage we had Merc play with. Great boat! I have a 39 that supposedly weighs 7900# with Bravos. My boat with #V's 180 gallons fuel with all gear comes in at 10,100#.
