Trailer Storage Boxes

Anybody have these bolted onto the trailer? I dont see many if any and I was wondering if this was a good or bad idea. I was thinking of keeping oil, a new impellor kit in there, waxes cleaners , extra tiedowns, tools, ect.

I was thinking of a small diamond plated box.

I have seen them on the larger boat trailers. Not a bad idea at all!
Been thinking the same thing for two seasons now but I was also thinking storage for a floor jack too.
Down side is , depending where you park , how safe is it. :(
Also would depend on how far down the ramp you need to go. Would hate to get water in the box

I've been thinking of adding one also, and big enough for a floor jack. Any good sources for these boxes?
I was thinking of a nice triangular one right behind the winch. It would fit as thats an "A" area. I've seen them online for about 220 bucks all polished. I was also thinking about throwing in a spare hub too, greese gun. You never know. I was sitting at work saying, man.. If I go on my trip a couple hundred miles away and something stupid breaks. There goes my whole weekend unless theres a dealer nearby. I'm not taking that chance. I want to be prepared with fixable items.

With the box, I was going to drill into the trailer, tap it for 4 3/8 bolts and tighten from in the inside. Nobody can steel it then. + The locks are built in unlike locks that can be cut.

May also want to try Tractor Supply.

I would suggest checking with someone that knows trailers and the best way to fasten one down. I would think that drilling into a structural area of the beams could compromise the strength of the metal (ie perhaps a stress crack could start from that point)
Mount them as high and forward as possible. They are VERY convenient, but when you have to use a crappy ramp, and back in farther to launch/retrieve, it does suck to have to pull, dry, and spray WD-40 on everything.

I keep in mine:
brake fluid
silicone lube
WD-40
grease gun
brake pads
bearings and races
10 ton bottle jack
12"x12"x 1/4" steel plate (to put under jack or tongue stand when on soft ground)
wheel chocks
and a few other odds and ends

I just adjusted my trailer and found I have alot of extra room up in front of the winch. One of these boxes would be perfect for storage and even a good step for getting on the bow of my boat.......

I can see how they would be a pain if you mounted them below the waterline when you put in. However I have enough room between the tongue and the winch that I should not have a problem. I could just mount it on top of the traielr frame, seal it up and call it a day.
