I'm thinking about a restoration of an older boat that originally came with a Volvo outdrive. Small block powered, most would consider converting to a Merc Alpha or if big power was in order then a Bravo.
But I'm thinking about trying to stay a little true to the heritage at least and perhaps use a newer Volvo like the SX. Anybody care to share thoughts on the Volvo drives?
The goals for the project would be very modest, small block power 350-400hp, top speed under 65-70mph. I know the cheapest/easiest route would be Merc Alpha but that's just not my style.
