1000acre plus lake w/ a condo type(kitchenette) resort area w/sandy beach for the kids to swim and docking/launching facilities. located within 5hrs of Chicago.

Easy answer: Lake Shelbyville. It's within the 5 hour window. 11000 acre Corp of Engineers lake. Three marina's, two restaurants on the water, numerous sandy beaches on the lake.

For the resort try Eagle Creek. Indoor and outdoor pools. full service restaurant, award winning golf course. They have kitchenette rooms available as well as a seperate condo. Private slips.
