Anyone scale their 271 loaded up with gear fuel and water, etc?

I am thinking 8000lbs plus with trailer but was told nowhere near that.

Heck full fuel and water would add a 1000 to the 5750 boat plus trailer I am thinking around 8000 before the proverbial 2 coolers of beer and food and overnight bags, etc............

Anyone?

Cant help ya there, but i can tell you i was shocked at the trailer weight of my 89' 272!

i scaled the boat, with 1/3 fuel, no water, no coolers, no people, but basic gear liek anchors, jackets, kids toys, etc, including the steel bunk trailer is was 9500 lbs !!! Holy crap batman.. With the excursion, and just me in it, we were rolling at 17,000 lbs! fill the fuel, put the 3 kids and the wife in the truck, load the coolers, and damn near 19,000 lbs! Yikes!

no wonder the excursion only gets 6.5 mpg when towing! (and 9.5 empty argggggg)

I rolled my 272 full of fuel and water on the scales off the interstate, CAT certified scales, and weighed in at 9K lbs. + some change. less than 9100.
But my 272 is on an aluminum trailer.
The steel trailers like Manning's will add a lot to that weight.

I just looked on the NADA book values and the 272 is 5750lbs and the 271 is 5250. Only 500 lbs difference

I would have figured there was more of a difference than that! Since the 272 has a second engine that weighs almost 1K fully dressed...........WOW would never have guessed that

JMHO.............
DON't guess. Take it to the scales and find out. It costs only a couple bucks and that way you know when you are buying a tow vehicle/trailer parts...you know what your limits are.

JMHO

I saw a 272 formula at the ramps 2 weekends ago. Shockingly, I saw one of those 4 door jeep wranglers with v6's tow one up the ramp and away. I asked the owner how much those weighed, he said around 7000-8000. But a v6 and a 4 ton boat, thats a short life for that jeep. I just looked and the towing capacity is 3500. yikes!

to follow up on this thread scaled up the old 271 today with full fuel and water but not much else in the boat, heck no cover, prop or any gear and here is the tally:

7840 lbs.

kind of in the hunt with what I thought, although with 4-6 people and coolers I am thinking the boat alone would weigh that much in water (without trailer weight but adding back in the bodies and gear weight).

trailer is a myco fitted aluminum I beam for the record, metal would surely add some poundage.

That lists the weight as axles. Did you have it unhooked from the truck? You have more weigh on the tongue to add in.

With that being said, on a galvanized 1700 lb trailer with about 1/2 tank of fuel, I scaled one at 7360, so 5660 boat/fuel weight. Without Tq weight added in, that 7840 looks VERY heavy, unless you are carring a lot of stuff in the boat. Don't forget, depending on how your trailer is hooked up, you are gonna have ~ 4-500 more pounds on the tongue
