What did you eat over memorial day weekend?

We smoked 9 racks of ribs and two whole chickens in my brothers new smoker.

He picked up a propane tank from a customer's yard and brought it home and installed some shelves, added some doors and a smoke stack and voila.

It's kinda become my job to keep the temp regulated. No propane or charcoal here....

apple tree :D

Fired it up around 11:30 and the ribs were done around 5:30. The drinking continued all night :D

i smoked 10 pounds of pork, and 3 pounds of ham, and 3 racks of ribs. turned out great!
my neighbor fed me blue light, Mojito's,sausage, burgers and snappy grillers!
sorry nothing exotic that needed slow 10 hour cooking

but we did talk about Clams crabs and ribs
We had crabs, clams, pinapple/coconut martinis, and grilled burgers & dogs. Thanks again Bud and Gail!! :vcol:

OK I am from Upstate, didnt think you needed that jacket. I was cool and occasionally breezy, but that jacket?
EVERYTHING. Oh GOD if I wasn't stuffing my face with food from the fantastic joints at LOTO, I was double-fisting beers....blah!

I didn't see you go by in the Formula, now I know why! Where is your spot? Or won't you tell me? Looks like the back side of Oak Island.

Pretty sure they went pretty early in the morning. And the lows up north (St. Lawrence Cnty) were down in the 40's overnight....also I think it is his life vest :)

I didn't think you actually ate crappie?? Or maybe I'm getting it confused with carp, which I know you don't eat carp.

crappie don't taste crappy at all, they are very, very good. Carp on the other hand....yuck.
some races eat carp, I am not saying which ones, but I do know of one here in the US that will eat carp, possume, sow's meat, watermelon, fired chicken, pigs feet, chicken necks, hog heads, ect.... of course I like water melon and fired chicken but not the rest of that chit!!!

My parents used to cook carp.....the secret is to keep the fish alive and throw them into a bath of clean water.....and change it a few times during the day.....it gets all the "fishy" stink out of them and then you have some GOOD tasting meat! I know they are bottom dwellers but if you think about it what fish isn't (unless they are a predator fish) :)
We had about 100 pounds of these. Crawfish for you guys up north!! :)

We call Crappie Sac-A-Lait (sock a lay) down here is south Louisiana. Got to be the best tasting fresh water fish around.

maybe I just don't know the trick to eating these little buggers, but I've tried them a few times I've been in N.O and it seems like I burnt more calories trying to eat them than I consumed from eating them - perhaps they're the perfect diet food?

Right up there with Steamed Crabs!

I'm convinced if you ate steamed crabs long enough, you would drop dead from starvation!

You burn more energy taking them apart than you realize from the meat you find! :p:

Jeff,
Next time you are down here, let me know. If it is crawfish season, I will make sure you get your full.
