I'm getting ready to get my boat ready for this summer. I'm putting a set of GLM manifolds on it, and changing all fluids. I was thinking of using Lucas full synthetic oil with synthetic oil stabilizer for the motor. Has anyone ever used these product in their boat? any other recommendations?

for the Outdrive I have a alpha 1 that has been rebuilt with heavier gears and I also have a land and sea sternJack. I was thinking of using Lucas 75/90 synthetic Gear oil with a little of the syn oil stabilizer. Has anyone ever used these product in their boat? any other recommendations?

I used Merc HP for years then switched to M1 Syn 75W-90 for a few years with good results. Internals looked great. Had a water leak at the end of last summer. The lower pinion and F gear teeth soon came apart after that. I don't believe these Auto gear oils have the ability to protect when emulsified with water. The Merc HP and Amsoil marine gear oils are designed to still protect if water enters the gear oil.

I have since switched back to Merc HP.

Engine oil... I've used Mobil Delvac 1300S 15W-40 with great results at 25-30hr change intervals. Another good choice is Mobil1 15W-50 Syn.

Hey hap watcha got in ur Outlaw?

Is 25-40 a good weight to run in hi-perf BBC? what oil filter do u use? i just bought a fresh 454mag not sure what to run in it yet.
The builder of my motors wants me to run Joe Gibbs BR in mine all the time. BR is a break in oil that is a 15-40 wt i believe. This is what was used in it on the dyno because of the flat tappet cam.

You cant go wrong with synthetics or 40w....I am actually a oil rep and I will tell you right now I can cross reference any of those oils and save you guys a fortune...We did it with every product at our local marina and all it is is the same oil with a different sticker and +5profit. They change the color of some of them sometimes but that is just a dye to make you think you are getting something better. Peronsally we run Chevron Delo Multigrade 400 40w in ours. It is nice and thick for summer months plus it has a detergent in it to keep the internals clean. Delo is one of the highest rank we run it is our semis and they have hit 1,000,000miles (I know I know semis and boats are different!) If you guys shoot me specs I can cross it for you. P.S. For some reason some buts cant handle anything with a W in it like 10W-30 I have done some research and it has to do with polymers but I am not sure what applications this applys to. Think it could be 2-cycles and not inboards. I need to find out more on that.

Merc calls for 25-40, a lot of guys also run a straight 40w. I have a stock 502MPI, and use a Wix oil filter. I'd rather spend a little extra coin for better oil and filters than risk hurting the motor.
