I keep my idle speed very low (around 550-600rpm) to keep the engagement hit from killing my Alpha drive.Wondering if this cam will idle that low without reversion.
Its a crate GM 454 HO

camshaft duration (@.050 in)

211 degree intake / 230 degree exhaust

Camshaft lift (in):

.510 intake / .540 exhaust

Camshaft Part Number:

24502611

Camshaft type:

Hydraulic roller

Well I would contact RMBUILDER.He did a lot of cams for guys on the forum who are happy. He did mine and I got more than I wanted. Not much difference in money to get your wish list.It won't be a fits all off the shelf. He is real precise. My power band is exactly where I wanted.
The stock 330 HP 454 would kill an ALPHA drive.
If you do any mods to that engine you are going to kill it at first pull of the trigger.
How I kept MY Alpha togeather was to unwire the neutral start switch. I used to start in gear like the V drives. I could break My drive at will. And that was with a small block Ford.
ummmm,, dont tell that to my drive,,
I have been running a 454 for over a 100 hours on my drive including 8 poker runs over past two years, over 200 hours before that with a 300hp 350 mag , drive is original never replaced over 24 years old..
So keep it down dont want it to know its not supposed to work..

Thanks , appreciate the info,
however its a brand new crate 454 HO I can get a good deal on and if I get it I would not be tearing it apart to swap cams thats why I wanted to know if the cam would be ok.
