Started up my long a waited project. Plan is "do work"

Picks for kicks...

Someone glued the crap out of the top windshield trim, noticed it when my windscreen cracked, needed to be replaced anyway...





Scraped the topside paint off the sides











Threw some 120 on the DA , results were good

Opened up quite the can of worms last night, removed the bilge box tops and to my dismay, found quite a bit of damaged and wet wood.

I would have thought they would have originally placed drainage holes in between the stringers they filled with foam. Needless to say, all the foam will be removed and drainage will be strategically placed. The boat needs to be stored dry for about a month opened up so I can address the rot.

Got into it a little more this weekend, wasn't going to pull the floors, but based on what I found when I pulled the bilge shelves, I needed to see what was going on. The keel board was almost underwater when I got to it, so I cleaned everything out and popped some more drainage holes.

Going to let her air dry for a couple weeks while I'm working on fixing all the chips, cracks and dings. I also got the entire boat da'd with 120, with the exception of the bottom, that should come later this week.

Got a little portable spray booth and couldn't be happier, it's working out very well and was quite cost effective and keeping Dorothy high and dry.

I also got started in on some fill work, going to be busting *** for the next two weeks to get her back to shiny

All bodywork has to start with a good foundation :laugher:

There was tons of little stuff I ground out, feathered and filled, some high density filler was used in the strakes, keel and high stress area stress cracks.

I also have all the stringers in the cockpit area petrified with penetrating epoxy, reinforcement will be starting this weekend.

Small update, no pics...

Been busy sanding my a$$ off, the hull sides and deck sides were primered about 2 weeks ago, had a small issue with induction timing on the primer, but got it sorted. I applied a roll and tip coat to the bottom with great result. While sanding the riding surface, I noticed some deviation, so blueprinting will be in order. Hoping to get the entire hull shot in primer this weekend, then blueprint

Been busy, sandblasted the motor bits at work and shot them with Imron, got to assemble most of the motor yesterday. I wasn't happy with the manifolds so I'm going to give them another coat if I can get a break from the rain. Before I tossed the parts on I rolled and tipped 2 coats of Snow White Imron on the forward bulkhead and inside transom, turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.

I also cut and fitted some plywood, waiting on my hardware order to proceed.

Crunch is on, looking to be on the water for July 4th.

Been super busy with work, but have been getting things done here and there, not as far along as I'd like, but more progress is better than not.

Got the hardware for the stringer scabs, go it all mocked up, pulled today and got 3 coats of penetrating epoxy on it. Floors are cut and fitted, the rear hatch cut will be the new cooler for lower COG. There is more wood to cut for the transverse bulkheads, but have to get the stringers finalized.

Motor is about wrapped up, not exactly sure how to set the base timing, the manual I have doesn't really explain how to set initial timing. Motor is spun to TDC on cyl #1 and rotor is about 90* clockwise of centerline with the crank. I haven't googled it yet tho...

I also filled all the pinholes on the hull sides and bottom, used an epoxy product which was recommended by my local marine supply store and is incredibly hard to sand, learned my lesson on the sides and filled the bottom pinholes with a high quality automotive glazing putty, cuts like butter. Hoping to have paint on the hull in a week or so, gotta be close to perfect or I won't shoot it.

I have been busting my a$$ to get this thing done for the 4th, unfortunately not going to make it. I had some snags with the firsts go around with the Imron on the hull, orange peel pretty bad, was easier to knock it down with 400 and toss another coat, the results were what was to be expected with the product, nice n shiny with a minimal orange peel and a few drips. I will be wetsanding and polishing this week, got a nice Makita rotary buffer and 3M's Perfect-It series compound & polishes.

Let's see, got a bunch more done as well, all stringers and ski locker floor are down, engine diamond plate was sprayed with bedliner, engine is complete and almost wired up, first start on the 4th, I have all the new cabling and trays, just waiting for the batteries. I've got the transverse bulkhead in front of the motor cut and awaiting epoxy, tossed a coat of paint in the bilge and ski locker with the extra from the hull shoot.

I also got my new windscreen, it's VERY nice!

Got some more done with the long weekend, got the deck shot in primer on the 4th, started filling pinholes, all goes well I will toss some color next weekend...

Finished up all the wiring to the motor and installed a momentary push button so I can remote start from the engine compartment. Had to pull the exhaust "anchors" in order to get the exhaust tubes on, they will go back on tomorrow, going to drain the remaining fuel from the tank, add fresh and go for first start.

A race boat buddy came over on Saturday to help with all the "go" stuff, we set the transom assy with a bit of 5200, pulled the old gimball bearing out, put the new one in and aligned the motor, shaft tool was silky smooth, going to make for a super easy drive install and long healthy life for the bearing.

Rolled and tipped the bilge this morning and spent the afternoon polishing out the transom and fitting up the swim platform & exhaust tips.
