The Docks are cool, nothing spectacular but a cool place to stop at.sunsation98 said:
Is it worth it to come down to Toledo for a weekend to boat the river and the toldeo boardwalk area?
Good question! There is a new marina downtown that is awesome but not in the greatest part of town. Supposedly they have security up there, I can't remember if they have gates or notsunsation98 said:
Is there anywhere to stay on the boat?
Can be, we did see somebody up on a dredge shoal last weekend but I think it was the guys first time out on the boat period. Its not too bad if you have some idea where you are going or a chartplotter with low-water datum, we could draw you a map.sunsation98 said:
What about wood tick- How hard is that to navigate too?
Everything brent said was about right. Except thanks for telling me about the WARNING! Was that after we went thru there Sunday?c_deezy said:The Docks are cool, nothing spectacular but a cool place to stop at.

Although I did get warned about cutting in from the channel on another site, but so far I haven't had a problem with it.

I was seeing 7 and 8 ft all the way thru there. I think even if the wind was blowing it wouldn't be a problem. Coming thru the cut it is like 3 to 4 and then around the corner all the way to wood tick it is 4 to 6 most times. There is a way to the channel from Ottawa River because you see all those big cruisers going that way and also my first wifes dad used to go that way all the time, but that was so long ago I don't know what he used to line up to head out there.c_deezy said:Mosi sent me a pm Monday over on GLO saying I was crazy to cut in from the channel. But I read deeper water going in that way than the cut-through, and its not like I just cutover wherever, I only do/did it in one specific spot. I've heard from other people that they cut in right between those cans too (36 and 38) to head to the beach.
He said most people stay between the island and the dredge shoals until they get out by Turtle but if you look at the charts (chart 14847, 2005 edition, corrected 5/31/2007) its just as shallow out there so who knows, you can go shallow anywhere. Not that I discount his advice, he has probably been running around out there longer than I have been alive...
Obviously we made it from the channel back to the island a couple times and I'm confident in the route, would I stray off my plot line? Hell no.
