I don't work for the institute, wish I did they have pretty cushy jobs. I have never been to the campus that they have but heard it is real nice.. Here in KC they work 8-4 m-f and it is my understanding that they have some real good benifits also, like houses and the such. But again this is just hearsay.

their place is like a collge campus... it's beautiful. They took over the Arco Oil Headqueaters site and re-did the entire place. One of my good friends works there are he has to work long hours sometimes on big projects...but what's new right????

Must be a difference between developers and consultants!! They origianlly wrote the software with c code now they are releasing a new version and beging to write it with Java technology. So I'm willing to bet a bunch in Cary are working long hours!!

I'm a Product Designer for interior and exterior plastic injection molded automotive parts.

I work for a tier one supplier to Ford.

Currently I'm slated to be laid off my the end of the month, it was supposed to be last month but I got lucky !

Jeff, If you pick up the Eagle we could probably setup an OC3 Satelite connection directely to the Radome on the arch. You could then host the site directly on the boat makeing this the first true offshore website and you could be cruising the islands in style at the same time. :D

GEB, Celular modem would be the way to go unless your area has a mobile high speed network. Just connect it to the laptop and you can be on-line. Of course that won't help with the cellular bills. The WI-FI stuff I do is limited in range unless you get some big directional antennas and boosters.

Sales Admin. Manager for a closed die full impression Forge shop. (1 lb. to 2500 lbs.)

We forge Crankshafts for small aircraft. Used to forge the Cranks for all Force Outboard engines.

Excelsior-Henderson Super X Motorcycles made a brief comeback two years ago. We were forging the Crank, Conn-Rods, Fender Supports and front forks. They ended up, belly up......still owing us $400,000.00! Does anyone remember that bike from the early 1930's?

We also do a lot of Oil Ind. product. We are the 2nd leading forging supplier to Caterpillar. Fork Truck Steering Knuckles. Steam Turbine Blade Buckets. And so on.

Hey Captain, I was down out side of Chicago visiting some Cat plants, and I thought they made all there own parts, except there filters. Seen them poring engine blocks, and huge machines fabricating hyd cylinders, even there own nuts and bolts. Do they not fab every part? Am I wrong?

Cat. purchases over $20,000,000.00 worth of forgings from us yearly at their Peoria, Joliet and Morton facilities! We also sell a ton of forgings to Cat machine shops all over the country, including Mexico.

We forge ground engaging tools (Teeth), end bits for bulldozers, gears, ripper shanks, yokes, caps, trunnions, bearings, spindles, eyes, collars, hooks, hubs, tamping feet, spiders, forks, flanges and so on.

Remember, we are only forging the rough shape. That rough shape needs to be further machined by Cat or a sub contractor.

The only forgings Cat produces in house is track links.

Pouring an engine block is a casting operation. Think of forging as the old blacksmith hammering horse shoes. Heat the steel to 2200 deg. F. and pound it into shape. In the casting ind., the steel is melted and poured.

Forgings are the strongest raw material made. Thus aircraft landing gears are forged.

Cat. does fab. a lot of there own product. But fabricating is not casting or forging.

If I had to guess, Cat buys over $500,000,000.00 worth of forgings per year. And that is only steel forgings! As opposed to aluminum, etc.....

Current title "Warehouse Manager". Shipping and transportaion are my main interests. Been doing it for a long time but only been at this current company for a year and I'm not very impressed. Looking to move on. Anyone in need...anyone???:) :)

Oh and yes I drive and deal with fork lifts. I just gotta say I hate "CROWNS".
