Just want to throw something out there for you guys! Has anyone ran the "Digital" series MSD boxes in their boats? I would prefer not to get the USCG speech!

I have a new Digital 6 and a HVC coil collecting dust in the garage. It allows you to take a pre determined amount of timing out at the flip of a switch. Also has a built in "start retard" and an adjustable rev limiter feature! I know with the race car, I could gain HP by pulling some timing out at high rpms at the end of the track! Just some food for thought!

Been watching this thread for a while now....Guess its time to post up. Not the fastest but she does alright

I have an 22' 1988 Stingray Maxim 3, 330 horse 454, Bravo drive, 24p 3 blade prop. It runs 65 mph (gps) @ 4700-4800 rpm, with bottom paint, 2 people, 25 gallons of fuel and choppy water. Id like to remove the bottom paint but the whole boat has been repainted so i think it might screw it all up......

Thanks for the comments guys. Remember, without all of you contributing this would not have gotten past the 1st post.

Maxim88 - welcome ! Hope you have some fun with it too.

Note:
On the list (1st post of this thread) I add a link to everyone's boat. Here's a copy of yours.

Treat this link as your home page/post for your boat . You can update/edit it any time. Pics / info/what have you. That way people looking at the list can click on anyone's link to see more info about that particular boat.

Whenever you update your 'home' post, just make sure to let us know my posting a new post on this thread. Edited posts don't send out notifications.New Posts Do

Thanks....I was following your build up for a while even though our boats are a bit different the hulls are slightly similar. Sad to see yours become and organ doner. :(
As stated before, it went to a very good home. I just hope I have the patients and funds to get full potential out of it! On the brighter note. Cookin's new boat is VERY nice!! I am envious of it! I will keep everyone up to date with the "Transplant".

88maxim,I have little time to test and tune.I used the boat very little as it was. When I got busted at the local lake for the noise that was it.We had a vacation booked at another Lake and the Ray wasn't ready so I bought another boat. That Stingray is on my list of favorite toys for sure. :( The new boat is loved by my wife. :D I can't do two.She wins.I hate selling it let alone the $$$$ I lost.

Well its almost all together. These are past pics. I just need some brass plugs for the intake and set screws for my rocker arm bolts. I lost the package of center screws  The bores look in MINT shape. Nice cross hatches and everything. Old hoods look perfect too. Not one ounce of carbin build up or anything. Question though, the head is from the post side and I notice 1 and 7 a tad leaner then the rest. Is this because of fuel distribution from being carb? 2 and 8 look the same on star side too. The plugs are 2 years old in the head too. They look like I just pulled them out of the ACDelco box as you can see.

Only 2 snags I ran into so far with this swap. I bought a whole new timing set from GM that included the thrust plate and everything. My old thrust plate I took off was pitted for some reason so i went to use the new one that came in the kit. I get it all bolted in and I CANT turn the cam with the timing gear on it. Here.. the wider thrust plate is a TAD thicker then the other one that came in the box. I dont know why GM did this. I took a little sand paper to it for like an hour and got it specs to the other one in the kit. Also I dont like when you go to torque the crank bolt to 60LBS and after a few seconds it gets easier to turn. I seemed to have stripped it out a little. I had a longer ARP unit in the garge I swapped in and was able to get a good bite. Other then that it should fire tomorrow.
