I have so many drives now cut up and shorten and 3 different lower design now it would just be one day testing.
Seriously, how much for one ?
Any 'rental charge' for trying one out for a day, few days, a week ? For the thread starter to do a fair/unbiased before after ? Might make you some money if it works out. :winker:

Bunch of others out there with 7" or so of 'X' that could really benefit from a shortened Alpha.

LOL at renting them out. Come to my place and we will dial in the drive height, foot, and prop and what ever combo works the best you and you like it, buy it and go on your happy way.

My new low water pick foot is done. This lower foot is designed to be surface driven. Now you can go as high as you want with out worrying about water pressure problems. No exsternal water hose in the way any more. Incresed skeg depth for better handleing. Direct bolt on to any Alpha 1 Gen 1 upper

I have bad news and more band news. First thing is the intake gaskets didnt help any. I drove about 2 miles at 3K rpms and everything looked good. Once I get on it I get milky residue on the fill cap, under side of valve covers, breather tubes and on the FA. Second bad news is I gained 0 MPH with the 23 prop. I only lost "maybe 100 rpms" I'm fed up. Its time to pressure test this ^&$%&%@!!

It's possible that you may need to mill off some material on the intake where it meets the block & heads, if the heads were milled too much, you have to mill the intake too..
Not saying that's what it is,,,, just a possibility, and something for you to check..
