Does look like photos from aprox (1)month ago. Would like to know how he made out with the insurance company settling that. "Sorry sir, but your policy doesn't cover damage from a stationary tree, unless you purchased the optional tree coverage."

No doubt we'll all end paying for it in the long run. You keep hear rumblings about licensing. These type of photos don't help.

These photos do help, I have no problems in having to prove you are competent enough to drive a boat just like with a car.

I recently read that the owner of O/L approached other manufacturers about a licensing program for fast boats (over 100?). I guess they are as concerned as we are about cost of insurance - educate before handing the keys to the potential tree house.

Here's the scoop from what I have been told from a reliable source:

He had the accident on Lake hartwell on the Georgia/SC border. The boat was a 42' Fountain with twins purchased from Pier 57 in Tennessee. This was his first powerboat and a bass boat cut in front of him and he was traveling 80-85mph. The boat was not correctly trimmed out and the steps hooked up in the water throwing him and another guy out of the boat. No red cord attached boat ran up on shore, split a pine tree, blew both motors, and left the driver and his partner pretty banged up but alive.

I have also heard from some that he only had the boat a week, paid cash for the boat, questionable insurance.

To make a long story longer he went back to pier 57 the next week and bought a 2005 42'. I think I want to stay clear of this guy. I guess it's his business and $$$ not mine. Thought I'd share-

Then I put the blame on the sales staff at Pier 57
Someone with a big name out there in the market of performance boats should know better. If it is his first boat as stated, they should have taken the time to teach the guy how to handle it.
Boats with steps are not a joke, You cant not turn them safely at speed with the improper trim.
Older boats non stepped, you made a mistake then you just learn from it.
Spearing a tree with a 10 thousand pound boat what 100+feet from the waters edge and leaving it up 45 degrees.
and he went out and bought another one. Let me guess, STILL DID NOT TEACH HIM TO DRIVE IT RIGHT?
This is what kills each and every one of us in our pockets with insurance.

Listen up JAY. All you can do is ask if they are experienced. What would you say about your experience? Handle anything right?

One thing is for sure-bet he learned from his last accident. Maybe he should have just ran over the bass boat, might have been cheaper.
