I would use the valvesprings designed for your cam. I'm not sure who you are purchasing the heads through, but most places, specifically Herbert Racing, uses absolute junk bulk Crane springs. The Dart Pro 1 heads I bought for the 383 in my 1969 Camaro had 1.55 roller springs designed for a solid roller cam with up to .680 lift. My solid roller cam is at .600. I put maybe 50 miles on the motor and had 3 inner springs break. Herebert gave me a new set of springs, which I replaced, and they lasted about the same time only damaged 2 valve guides and 1 valve tapped a piston, and bent the valve. I pulled the heads off, repaired the guides and replaced a valve and put in quality springs and have had no more issues in 8 years. I do replace the springs every 2 years now. This is a 580HP 11.5:1 street motor with an occasional trip to the track. Be careful with bulk springs used in these assembled head packages.

Thanks for the Info These are some heads that were built up... not with junk. Thanks for looking out

I was planning a couple 383's in my 30' velocity. This thread has me re-thinking. I see I can get a dart block, all forged eagle internals, H-Beam Rods, SRP forged pistons 434 short block from Dyno-flo for about 3600 assembled!

Does this sound like a good deal? Can be seen on ebay.

Anyone have experience with them?

Need help choosing heads. AFR's?

ttrm007, I would go with the bigger cubic inch motors myself!! There are many options on the heads as well!!

Just make sure they have good internals and a from a reputable builder!! I have a Dart block based 406 in my 22V that is just under 600 hp. It would def. be a good setup for your 30!! :D How are you making out on the cabin mods.? You havent posted any updates on the other site!!!!!

Cabin Mods are moving but quite slow.... I can't get to the shop much right now so moving to engine research since I don't have to be there.

I did get the catch cut in and the extra bulkhead has been removed. Opened things up quite nice down there.

Glad to here it!!

I think a couple of Aluminum headed 500-600 hp small blocks would be awesome in a 30!! It sholud be very balanced!! Good luck with it, and I will keep check on your progress!!
