I just picked up a 242 SR1 and the buttons on the bolsters do not work. How can I fix them? Is there a button kit with cable? Thanks!

What do you mean they don't work.

Seriously I know this is a dumb question, but valid.

The actuators are Hydrolocks manufactured by P.L.Porter, and they have certain glitches.
If the button is flat no spring check the cable behind the button for the button itself being broken or disconnected.
If the button end is OK I could have come undone at the actuator. There is a clip that comes loose and disengages the arm from the actuator.

If the arm works and the actuator is connected the fluid can be low and needs serviced.

Problem is there is NO consumer service possible. They need sent in for repair.

Need a number to send them to?

jrapp, Pull the button out and where the wires are attached get any ohm meter. Set meter on ohms the "horse shoe" sign red lead to one side of the switch and black to the other side meter should say OL. "open line" Press button button should read resistence of .01-.09. Any questions just ask.Hope this helps.

Thanks for the pictures Opie. I got the cables and actuators out yesterday. What a job. Had to remove the entire brace that they are attached to! I have to replace a few screws and also contact PL Porter. Neither of the actuators work. I think the one button and cable will be ok, but not sure. How do these operate? Push button for down?

They work like airline seat backs. Push the button and the seatback is released to move where ever you want then release the button and it stays where you put it.

So....

Push the button and YOU push the seat down to where you want it. Then release the button and it will stay where you put it.

Want the seat bottom back up? Move out of the way (lift yo azz) and push the button again. The seat bottom will rise on it's own. :D

The actuator only TRAPS fluid in the position you have it when you release the button.

Liquid-lock if you want to think of it that way.

Be sure you fully check out the actuator before thinking it is bad. You CAN NOT actuate the hydrolock yourself by pushing on the tip. You do not have the ability to push it down and hold the actuator both. The spring on the actuator is stout! Play with the button while it is installed.
