Gonna go take a look at one this weekend. 04 with a 496HO.

I know of that boat in Iowa as well (if it's the yellow/white one), sharp ride!

Depending on one's interpretation of 'slow', mid to upper 60's out of that motor is respectable and can be attained. We had considered the 26ZX before we bought the 28, and am happy we went with the 28ZX. You gain it in the cuddy, cockpit is the same as well as sunpad/bilge for the 26's and 28's. I am a big fan of playin with the twins, and more fuel efficient than our old single big block plus 10mph faster!

As for my friend Hedgehog, he has spent some money, but he is in the low 100's with his 26ZX (GPS). So if your goal is to go that route, he can be your tour guide.

I run with one regularly on our lake, which is 17 miles long, and tends to get rough in afternoon. My Sonic runs better in the rough, but I have to admit the Donzi is a very sharp looking boat - love the lines.

If you care at all about the cabin space, the Donzi may not be your best choice, either - Sonic Prowlers have about the largest cabin in the 25' class, and include an enclosed head. But, if you are like most buyers in the 25' class, and cabin is just a space to store stuff, the Donzi has alot to offer in other areas.

speter-

Not to hijack your thread, cause the Donzi is a sweet looking boat (one of the sharpest 26', I feel), but if ride and cabin room are priority, look at a Sonic, too, before you buy. IF you still prefer the Donzi, buy it.

Ask any Prowler owners on the forum about ride, room, build quality, and the advantage of walk-around hull; only boat close in this class is Active Thunder. :)

Sonic's are never the fastest in calm water, but wait till it gets rough! :D

If you get to the point of considering Sonic, PM me, mine is for sale, unfortunately. :(

70 MPH is a dream with stock power. 5800 lbs? Ouch!!!
Here are the test results from the Boat Test Report List:

454 MPI - 66.9 MPH radar 3/99 Hot Boat
502 MPI - 68.4 MPH radar 1/99 Powerboat
502 MPI - 61 MPH gps MB&Y 6/00
502 MPI - 64.1 MPH radar 7/01 Boating

A guy in the slip next to me has one with the 454 MPI and he loves it.
Handles 2-3 ft. chop well without slowing down. However he is nearly 8 MPH
slower than me in the flat water.

I see a bayliner in your future. Or a pontoon. :laugher:

Speed is relative. I can run 70 on smooth water. 2-3 foot chop, I'm at idle, or in the air a lot. I would rather have a 60 mph boat, that can run 60 in nasty water than a 70mpg boat that runs .....slow in choppy water....but this depends where I would be boating. It is all relative.......

Step bottom hulls are better then non-step hulls.Unless you like the up+down of the sonics, baja,s,powerquests, draging your trim tabs and not saving fuel.Going slower at the same rpm,s.Ill never buy another non-stepped hull.

ROFLMAO..............Did you see the Powerquest porpoise in either of my videos.

What do you have for power to run 70?

I would love to find a 26 excalibut that would run 70
Need a 500hp in it.They made some.I'm doing the conversion from the 415hp to a 525 efi.Shouild have 550hp at the flywheel at least.Great boat rides well.It has the gas tank in the middle so no matter how much gas it rides the same.Lot's of room in the cockpit also.I looked at a 26zx and a 28zx.Nice boats but I wanted the extra room.
