If your running in salt water go cmi headers.
If in fresh water like myself,go with Lightning headers,I
personally like the tubular exaust because it frees up
a lot of space in the engine compartment, not to mention
they just look cool!!!
Just my 2 cents worth.
IMCO's don't have a water bypass hose, so they have the same place to leak as Merc. Gil are VERY expensive, and are tight clearance wise. Stainless Marine give the best deal for the dollar, and fit perfectly. Keep in mind that if you just add exhaust that you are going to gain little if any performance. If you have EFI, tube headers could cause a need to have the ECU reprogramed. Stainless Marine don't need anything extra done.
The Gil's are indeed expensive when compared to others, but that's what I installed back in 1996.
I've never regretted buying the Gil's, the quality and performance have been terrific. They still looked brand new when we swapped them over to my new 502's this winter.
Revolution Marine is the best bang for the buck hands down. They build a good exhuast system and like the other marine exhaust companies have the proof in the dyno to back it up. along with a lot of other cool little gadgets. :jeff:

The Eddie Marine now have the water passages in the flange sealed and use only the bypass hose so you won't have a problem with water leaking at the gasket and you cant beat the price.
Ghittner,
I have a few left over sets, my boat just sank last weekend so I will be down for weeks, changing to CMI's
I am also In california and not trying to make a house payment off my exhaust. email me and I will give you my number (714)
I have nothing but thumbs up for Stainless Marine. Matter of fact I don't know if I have ever heard a bad thing about them....First Class. Hell I picked up just under 2mph on a stock 5.7. I am still using them on my new motor "Problem Child"
I installed
gils on my 454 mag efi in 97. havn't had a bit of trouble, and talk about factory fit and finnish. All of the brackets for the efi and the throttle are perfect. One other thing, Gil stands behind thier products 110%, I damaged a manifold (my fault) installing the hose fitting. Gil sent me a new manifold no questions asked, they installed the fitting and pressure tested too.
