I always wanted to do that, but never did, but everyone that I know that tried it, liked it, but I never got to taste a sample.. :(
The kit only makes 5 gallons though, how many kits are you buying?? :D

The wine kits are good too.. , those I have tried, and are good.. but it depends on the cook.. :winker:

I did a small (maybe 2 gallons) "Mr. Beer" once to get my feet wet. Had bigger aspirations and did 2-3 batches. LOTS of work, for me too much. A couple of friends have done some bigger stuff, but then gave up. Neat hobby though!!!
Good Luck ENJOY (just not too much, especially if you are a cop on a jet ski :D )

Just got into this myself. We made a grain based ale, then put it in the fridge for about a week at 55 degrees and turned into a lager. Do a google search for beer recipes you can find plenty there. If you have a beer store in your area you can get kits already made up with all the ingredients and directions to make. They will help you with what kind of beer you want to make or recipe you have and how stout the alcohol content. Tomorrow Im making a German Oktoberfest. The kit cost
35$ and will make 5 gal. Its a pain to keep everything clean but trust me its worth it. Your wife might complain
about the smell when cooking it but when she tastes it that will stop. Good luck

this is going to be a project I do in the garage. I have a few burners I will be using from there. I have picked up a few books to learn the process until the kit comes. It has a DVD with it as well. I also found a local brewing club that get's together here. Going to try that out too.

I do the Mr Beer thing as well along with a few friends of mine. It's really the simple man's way. Have gotten to the point where we do a double fermentation, really smoothes out the beer. Unlike the Mr. Beer recommendation to bottle in plastic PET (soda bottles) we use glass bottles. I prefer sthe stronger beers, that have to sit for several months to condition. Once you get a few started, say a week apart, and keep it going for a couple months, when they start to mature you just keep going from one to another. Make up your own recipes too.

And most importantly, sterilize sterilize sterilize.

I made quite a few batches. Need to keep the temp constant during the fermentation. It usually over flows if the temp warms up to much like over 65 needs to be cool. IT is a lot of work. You need to sterilize your bottles. I had over 60 grolsch(sp) snap top bottles that I used and it was still a ton of work. I would sterilize them at the lab at work ;) and it was still a lot of work. Oh and did I mention it was a lot of work. Also the longer you keep the beer in a frig aging the better it got. SO after it is bottled you still need to wait at least 4 weeks or it tends to be bitter. I still have my kit let me know if you need anything.
