HI everbody im new on here.I just bought a 1989 sleekcraft enforcer 28 tunnel v and have a few questions it came with a brovo1 and a older 415hp 502 that is gps ing around 62.5 in bad air with 2 people.i ordered a merlin 555ci w/jenkins heads 1050 dominator ect.that will be getting dynoed next week.it should dyno around 650hp.im wonder what this boat should do with the correct prop it weighs around 4300lbs.also some prop recomendations it has a 23 3 blade now @5000.probaly a 26 or 28 4 blade is what im thinking.

thanks for the replys.i also putting a crossover tube on which should help a bit and ill be getting a nose cone.im really hopeing to get 80 out of it i guess thats a little wishfull thinking.laster thats a nice progression my friend has one with the same paint scheme a 23.7 he just put in a 502 with a cam and a little head work 500hp those boats are rigged nice steel braided lines motor mount plate ect.he is nailing the speedo to the peg after 80 he wont gps it my guess is around 80 gps.id really like to pull from him but that boat flys with just 500hp.i might have to put a 3lb pro charger on to beat him.

sleeker, what year is your buddies boat? Mine ran close to 80 on GPS with the stock 502 MPI (415HP) so he should be running mid 80s with that motor. Better start saving for the Pro Charger. :D :D

i have the original sleekcraft brochure with all the models from 1989.some are heavy like the 30 enforcer with radar arche at 6500lbs but the 28 enforcer it states approx weight @4300lbs it dosnt say if thats wet or dry so maybe around 4600 with a half tank of fuel.as for the year of my friends boat i think its a 89 also.

I wouldn't get to optomistic about that speed yet,
I have the same year and make Sleek as you. I had a stock 365 horse and added new exhasut, intake, carb msd and only got 60GPS. Then just had the motor rebuilt and dynoyed at 570 HP 550 torque. I run a bravo one left hand 24P Top speed on GPS is 65. approx 100+ degree wheather. Top RPM is only 4900. I am hoping to get more out of her.

somthing must not be right with your setup.to go from 365hp to 570hp and only gain 5mph.im gpsing 62 with a older 415hp 502.what trouble me is you are only turning 4900 with a 24pitch prop it must not be making the power it did on the dyno.

I had the timing dropped down a little for the break in. Now I'm at 3o + hours. I am taking the engine builder on the boat this weekend to bump the timing up and do any adjustments. The builder told me through wet exhaust and through the bravo I will lose approx 100HP.
this is the same machine that he dyno's HP 500's at aprox 470-480 HP. Engine has dart heads 9.5 compression, JE pistons, full roller valvetrain, EMI exhaust, carb and intake off HP500. I'm very confused with this speed myself. I'm taking it in the Ocean which should bring the speed up a little.

dont let the engine builder talk you into the brovo and wet exhust thing.you were going 60 with that stuff with the old motor and droped in 200+hp and gained 5.im wondering if the cam made it through the breakin ok.i would do a compression test and pull the vavle covers and see if the rockers are getting full lift if you dont pick up with the timming it should run at least 70.you should be spinning the hell out of that prop with that hp.i have a question for you does your boat have the tunnel hull and do you have trim tabs im trying to find a place to put them but with the tunnel hull it dosnt seem like they would work well because they would have to be mounted so high.

no I don't have a tunnel hull. They built a v with a tunnel. I thought it was a 1989 28 Enfocer V hull. I talked with the builder I dropped my timing to 32 When it was dynoned it was at 38. He said to try 2-3 degrees more. He said with more timing I should spin around 5100-5200. My original speed of 60 Was in the ocean. Could cooler temps and salt water make up the difference?

You may want to rethink the nose cone thing. Wait until you see if the hull needs bow or stern lift. Nose cones can slow you down. The 89 Bravo gear case is somewhat blunt compared to the newer ones. Do a search on the subject on this and other forums.

the timeing may help a little if you go to 33/34 total just make sure your running 93 /94 octane and its not pinging.have you checked your plugs 100+degree weather and high humidity it might be rich if it has the same jetting as when it was dynoed in better air.have the engine builder bring some jets and bowl gaskets out with you and the timing light and fine tune it out on the water.lower temps and salt water also will help some.i do have the 1989 28 enforcer tunnel v which i was told is worth 3to5 mph over the v,as for the nose cone with the motor in it now i would say its pretty light in the bow and the stern dosnt get much lift

I think you have a problem. With that power and the weight of the boat you should spin that 24p out. Most of the stock 454's on the newer boats of that size are running 23's I would do some checking.

i really have no plans for the motor it was freshened and put in the boat 4 years ago with a new hour meter and never used it has around 32hrs now i bought the boat six weeks ago or so with 28 on the hr meter and got rid of the quadrajet put on a new 850 holley.the motor is built on a bowtie block(i ran the #s)nice block and runs great using it tommorow and watching the new motor get dynoed monday.i would sell it carb to pan make a offer.you can still here it run or come out on the boat for a few weeks then im pulling it out.
