Due to a technical difficulty, I lost ALL of my hard drive info.

I need any SPEEDWAKE members that I have been in contact with since.... .whenever, to please send me your email addresses and any other info that you desire so that I can replace them on my system.

For those that I am corresponding with on design and/or paint issues, please forward your emails one more time to me so that I can replace them also.

I appreciate your help so much, thank you!

If he could find a way to make this nightmare go away, I'd have his boat in my bay tomorrow.

Sorry to joke at a time like this. I know there's PC shops in DE that can recover hard drives, depending on what happened... maybe there's a place in MI. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Oh terrible!!

Good luck getting everything back together dude!! I had that happen a year or so back and I will never get all the email addresses back together so I didn't even try:D My address book is empty:( Oh well, I have too many damn email addresses to keep up with anyways.

Again, Good luck!!

MitcherT,really sorry to hear about this...Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you out.......I have a laptop you can borrow if needed. Just say the word and I'll ship it out..
I would also check into what beacher was talking about. Maybe your hard drive can be cracked and info obtained...

For most of us our computer is just for play, but I know you use yours for the business too !Hope you didn't loose too much valuable business info...
Again, let me know if I can help in ANY way...

Thanks, Guys (and Beacher)

It was no virus..well, kinda,...it was my wife!

I was having a satellite installed for my system, Windows 98 was mising a couple of files, the techs said that I needed my technician to uninstall and reinstall 98. As I'm on the phone with him, my wife (who is quite knowledgable about computers) says.I'll take care of it.

At the same time my tech is saying "you better ZIP your files off so you don't lose anything....just in case"

She says "No worry mate, It's already in process.

Next thing I know, there is nothing left anywhere. My tech was here in a half hour and pronounced it legally dead, tried for 2 hours to recover anything. Nothing was readable. Started from scratch reinstalling Windows 2000 and all of my high powered programs.

It was the business computer..... I lost 7 years of work. All of my artwork, pattern files and notes, CAMM programs, addresses, etc....

We have a ZIP Drive but have only used it for our other PC in general that we keep our accounting records on.

I was at the bank when she called with the bad news "Your computers gone".

She hid in the back bedroom of the house for the first 45 minutes I was home, just peeking around the corner. I was about sick to my stomach. Still am! I feel like I had a fire.... thousands of hours of work.

I guess it was just as much my fault for never zipping this system off.

I have 3 PC's and a laptop. This one is up and running, but it's like a brand new computer with nothing on it. So this is where I'll be for the rest of the week.

Thanks for all the offers, but I just need to recover whatever info I have on my laptop, shared files or floppies, etc.

You can help by sending me your private info that I had... names, phone #s, addresses, etc.
I lost all of my address book.

WWHHHAAAAHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAHHHHAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

Enigma gave me a name, I'm going to call as soon as I get caught up today to see if there is anything that he can do. Maybe a glimmer of hope, but my tech says it's history.

For the future, you should get a new tech. ;) It would have most likely been recoverable up to the point he/she decided to install Windows 2000.

And if it really was necessary to install Windows 2000, then a $100 for a new hard drive to re-install it on while your other one was being recoverd would have been the preferred solution from a competent tech.

Also have the NEW tech get you a tape drive and set it up to automatically backup weekly.

Hey T did you ever get with the manufactur of the HD I had one go down once it was a western digital I notified them a bought a rebuild kit for it had it 6years now with no problems the info still on the hd bt the needles and pickup wore out

My tech was the one to advise backing up the files, but my wife was impatient and said it was already rollin'. He said 'stop' but it was too late. She'd already done crashed the cart. POOF!!!

My tech is wonderful, he's spent last night until 11 pm and is back here tonight with his family to continue tweaking the system.

I might get a new wife, she's still a little worried. Actually .... come to think of it, I never had any problems like these when I was single.

oh the wife did it that what your telling us ?:D
mine crashed hers acouple of time (thats why she not allowed at my desk) :gunner: so what i did was I went out and bought her a tape backup system (compusa stores$150.00)
now when she does it everything is stored on tape and just new format it load windows and reload system like it was from tape backup

I like the tape drive because if anything happen to your hd you can just hit restore
and it make the hd just like nothing even happen you can even use it if you changing hd to a larger one with burning CD's you have to reload everything manually tape does it automatically
