Any first hand experience?

Links to test reports?

Speed with what power?

Ride?

Build quality?

Any other thoughts?

May be on the short list but it seems to me that many 28 to 31 twin powered boats are about as fast as the large models in same line/range.

I have a 1994. With 454 mags. Run 70 with 20 gal water full fuel. I have had no problems with the hull some of the interior could fit better. It rides alot better than my old 23.

The 23 a 237 Stryker?
I had a 95 and loved it. Never kidded myself and thought it was a bigger boat, but for what it was I thought they did a great job!

A 29 though, I bet I would have gotten spoiled even more.

I've owned a '96 Enticer for a little over 2 years. I boat on Lake St. Clair.

I've never found any test reports.

Mine's powered with twin 7.4MPI's (330HP a piece I think?) they are not the mags. 68-72 depending on load, conditions, etc. I saw almost 2mpg on a 70 mile run to PIB last year.

Its my first boat, so I can't compare it to anything. I grew up on Sea Ray cruisers so its a different ride/boat all together. I can say I have a 7 month pregnant wife and we used it almost every weekend this summer on a choppy Lake St. Clair. I just trimmed down and tabbed down and it kept the nose planted. With out her on the boat I'd run 50ish over the chop. Storage for a '29 "go fast" is awesome, lots of room for stuff.

Build quality seems good, boat feels solid for being 12 years old. Wiring is questionable in some areas, added a powered relay to get the hatch actuator to move the sunpad quicker. Cabin door sucks.

I bought mine two years ago August for $35k with a twin axle galvanized (read: fugly) trailer. I have 340ish hours and I haven't done much to the boat but clean and change the fluids and its given me absolutely no problems. I would by another PQ in a heartbeat.

Any other questions just ask. Mine sits on a hoist behind my house

232 rinker so quite a change
I also have had to upgrade some of the wiring. Everything worked fine, b ut relays made it faster. with the mags I ran 76.6 last weekend 1/4 fuel and 60 degrees

I think Powerquest made/makes a very nice well built boat. We were a dealer in the past and had very little if any issues with any of the hulls. I feel like you get alot of boat for the money. I have not had any experience with the 290 but we have a 26 in house the guy runs everyweeked with 800 hours on it and still looks great. He runs with all of the bigger stuff but may just get there a little slower. Good luck.

The 2mpg would seem about right. Mild power and fairly light for a twin. Any idea what the actual weight is? I am sort of comparing this to a 29 or 33 Outlaw. The PQ29 is about between the 29 and 33 Outlaw in the cockpit area.
I've never weighed mine, I have the weight of my trailer though. If I have time before it goes into storage I'd like to hit up a landscaping place and get a weight. NADA says its 6500lbs so I don't really have an answer for ya. Sorry

I had a 91 290 and was really impressed by the quality, back then it was there flag ship. I owned a 240 baja before that and it was like nite and day quality wise. I think early 90's models were better built than late 90's. They cheapend up hardware some to compete w/ cheaper brands, ie windshield frame, bolster frames etc.

Baja's are not bad boats. I have owned one for 5 years. It's a name thing for some people.

Anyway a 29 or 33 Baja Outlaw is a true 29 or 33. Is the PQ swim platform included in the length? A guy at our marina has one and and seems to like it very much. Seems to have a lot of free board

dont turn this into a pissin match about Baja... Maybe in January that would liven things up....

Been on a bunch of 290's, Like em a lot. They were as much about quality with comfort and convenience.

One thing I liken them to is this. You know how a 15-20 year old formula if cleaned up real nice, the quality of the vinyl and components will still show very very well... its sort of like that, but not quite as much, but up there.

Great riding and handling boat, easy to trailer, great cabin for weekends, built solid, cockpit is big, lot of freeboard, DuPont Imron graphics that won’t fade, lots of storage (I like the floor storage in the cockpit area), cheap to run. You sacrifice a lot of engine compartment space for the larger cockpit, which I don’t mind as long as I don’t have to change the impeller too often. Had mine for four years now and would find it hard to part with it. I have taken it on poker runs and all over Lake St Clair and Lake Erie for weekend stays. The engines are 454 and hit speeds in the high 60's. It’s pretty much a turn key boat with few issues other then your normal maintenance (yr. 2000) Here are a few pictures

i bought my '96 29' enticer about a year and a half ago. i have no problems w/the build quality of the boat from what i can see. like the one guy said...the rigging could be better and i do have a slow hatch actuator that i need to fix and my cabin door sucks, too. must be common problems w/pq...atleast the 29's.

ive gotten compliments on the ride quality of mine from people that have ridden in other popular brands of boats. i think mine handles the rough stuff pretty well for what it is.

power...standard mpi 454 330's / bravo 1's / standard steering / insta-trim tabs.
speed...67-68. one day last fall i hit 70 w/3 people and 1/4 tank of fuel. other than that...high 60's.

i would buy another pq...but i always heard mid to late 90's were the best years but thats only hearsay.

mine has about 800 hours on it and i lost a motor to a rod knock july of this year. i had it rebuilt but my season was shot financially. ofcourse...that wasn't a pq issue.

i listed mine for sale (not on here yet). some things have changed for me and i wont be able to use it as much. im actually leaving to get my motors winterized right now.
i would buy another one thats for sure. i think the 29's are alot of boat for the money.

here's some pics...
