MadMike, thanks for the info ,i'll start calling around tomorrow for that block.
Stingray69, i'm not going to use those pistons. i'll use the 9to1 pistons. the mechanic redid the heads, new valve guide, and grind the valves.
I'm not to sure about the 502's, will it line up with the engine mount pivots's in the boat? As well as the bell housing ?
I asked my mechanic about those SCUFF MARKS/dirt marks again, he told me, he's going to re-hone the block and get rid of the marks. this is where my parts went into my truck.
all i can say to U guys is thanks for the heads up

 :laugher: :laugher: :)

sheet looks like I would have ton of work overthere..should I just pack my dynos and stuff and ship them over with myself....
Where do you get these mofos?
ALL BBC´s measrue equal and bolt to each other. everything from 366 to 502 blocks so you are safe there.

Me I would take a look into those heads you have take them to a head porter for some clearing of what they are and how much modified..(you could also post pics here or contact me private) and install 2.25 or 2.19 intakes plus 1.88 exhaust valves.
Compare them to intake gaskets too if possible when taking pics.

Stick with a 454 block get a 4.25 crank and piston kit and presto you have a 496 if you have 0.030 overbore.

Also be sure you have L-88 Rods (7/16 rod bolts) or aftermarket steel ones.

Not quite.

A .030" over 454 block with a 4.25 stroker crank gives you 489 cubic inches, that is what I`m running.
To get 496 ci, you must bore .060" over with a 4.25 stroke.

MMIKE, let me know when and where to send the plane ticket :)
the valves are 2.19 intake and 1.88 exhaust, ''our friend'' measured them with a digital caliper.
i have those roller rockers 1.7 ratio, the damage to that one was done when the push-rod got bent in there?
my connecting rods are't 7/16. they look like some from here and there.when the mechanic first got his hands on my engine for the first rebuild, he told me it would cost 8 to 9 thousand dollars to build an engine like mine.now i have a 5c engine.
i did locate a block at a scrap yard, its a 454bb but he'll check the bore size for me tomorrow.
i have to get one of those digital caliper's
here are some more pic

MMIKE, how do i get your # Or call my COLLECT buisness line 1- 905-824-9556 and i'll get it then.

Well, from long ago, I have always kept the lifters, pushrods and rockers matched up to where they came from, when I disassemble a motor...

It looks like that didn't happen with your motor....
========
Ack!! the bottom picture shows a BENT pushrod, second to the bottom!!!

Also, in the second picture down, unless that is old head gasket material, it looks to me like head gasket leakage big time between the cylinders!!

And, it looks like under the valves is a fresh valve job look, but the heads were not cleaned?

Those are very very scary pictures, MoW!!

And why are the gold rockers so beat up?
Did someone drop em and grind em under their feet for a while?

I understand the one with the bent pushrod being hosed, but not the others in the pictures. The anodizing is scraped off!!

I am confuzzled...

Yea, what he said, and throw away the intake manifold, obviously, some alien creature has been chewing on the intake runners. Those pushrods and now lifter and now cam are all junk. Lifters and cam must be kept organised as a set, each lifter with its matching cam lobe. And yea, whats up with the different valves? I wont even do that.

the push rods i originally had were black and thinner all aftermarket stuff.after he rebuilt th engine the first time he called me in to show me that the black push-rods wont fit any more, but he has a set that he could replace.
those roller rockers were replaced as well,he said that one of his workers put the heads in the hot tank and the rockers melted.but he'll replace them.
the person that i bought this boat from worked for GM as a mechanic. i was told this guy had this boat in poker runs.
No re builder can pull the wool over my eyes any more :winker:

this is what I'm going for
454 block
edelbrock 5061 intake manifold
comp cam ...11-236-4
if i can afford the stroker crank kit i'll get it
have the heads checked over cleaned
find a good re builder
MY XYL is :angry1: because of the CRANE HI-6M

I really feel bad for you bro.

The pic's of the rigging (exterior motor) , as you know, really disturbed me. Now seeing what appears to be internal butchery also, is really making me feel bad.

This is going to be a big job. No two ways around it. Doing this correctly, even cheaply, is going to require some hard earned cash. Or credit of course. :dead:

Please do me a favor so I can rest a little - are you going to throw those exhaust thing a lings away also? I'd hate to see you get things right internally and then trash it with a subpar external item.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I just hate to see things like this happen.

Again, sorry you have to go thru this. I can say, many of us have been thru things like this before.....Unfortunately. :unhappy1:

Could the rockers have been hitting the valve covers????
