I'm sure Lucky Strike can post a lot more since he's been looking too...although I've really had a tough time finding new Harleys with options to post for you - but wait! - there's always Mike Harley Davidson on Wilmington Delaware that has everything in stock and adds thousands of dollars worth of accessories to new bikes and sells them above list... and for good reason.

here you go Mosi - lots of bikes for you above list price - no wait... they won't post prices - you have to visit - sorry...but at least you're getting something in return for your list ++++++++++++++++ $$$$

I looked and sorry but I could not find "American Beauty" listed on the Nada Guides website.....

but I did take a 96 top gun with new power and then depreciated all the options by 35% and features that AB had and came up with $172,365

so - I guess AB is a real bargain.

and I thought you were a capitalist jeff :winker:
you're too much Mosi - yes, I'm a capitalist but I also believe in what's fair. For many, many years I did battle with large corporations that operated in effect without consciences screwing every little guy they could find and it really soured me on unethical business practices and no one in the corporation was accountable because of their design structure. Nowadays most large corporations have "ethics" departments that are typically merely "eye candy" for potential investors. Last year I did battle with Brunswick Corporation over pricing on some of their parts from Mercury Marine which they have a corner on and I went straight to their ethics department and filed a complaint. I received some satisfaction, but the bottom line is that they have not changed and won't and it's up to people like you and I to fight to protect our rights and the rights of all the other little guys out there. my complaint was that they charged me $27.00 for a set screw that I found it cost them less than .20 to manufacture and then even burdened with overhead, employee salaries and enginerering costs - could not have cost more than $1.00 to produce.

I have never had a single complaint about paying a fair price for something I wanted because I want to see the companies I like survive and profit.

I ...just like you have always had to work hard for every penny I have ever earned and continue to work hard and do my job as best I can and treat everyone fairly and give people their money's worth when they purchase a product. and it really galls me when a business attempts to take advantage of hard working people by price gouging when they're already making a very nice profit to begin with. It's just not fair and I for one will speak out when I see it happen.

Cuda - that's not for me to say - I think the real question is do you feel justified in charging what you charge and if called on the carpet can you rationally explain why it costs what it does?

there's nothing wrong with making a profit - we all add value to what we sell or provide and we're entitled to make a profit.

my opinion is that price gouging and over charging only come back to haunt a business in the long run and damage the business and tarnish the repuation of the hard working employees.

I do 90% commercial work for the same contractors over and over again. You can bet they know exactly what the work goes for by industry standards, but if I thought I could charge more, you can bet I would. That in my opinion is the very definetion of capitalism. The market WILL dictate the value of anything.

Guys, everything that has been said here about business abuses can be found in every industry. As most of you know I lost a home to Isabel. Along with my fighting the flood insurance companies, I uncovered an interesting practice with my mortgage company. I routinely send additional money to be applied to principal every month. I have been with this bank for about a year.

Even though the statement I send to the bank has a separate line for additional payment to principal. This bank simply puts that additional money in something called "suspense account."

I found this mysterious account when I looked through the payment history on the bank's web site for my mortgage.

I contacted the bank and inquired as to what a suspense account was and how it dealt with my paying down the principal. I never did get a clear answer from anyone at the bank but within a week of my phone contact with them, they said an error was made in accounting with my mortgage. The recalculated the principal balance applying the payments as they were shuffled into this suspense account and amazingly my mortgage balance was reduced by just over $5,000.

My point is and Jeff hit the nail right on the head, business practices are getting well past the gray area. It is prevalent in every industry including your local bank.

Who was it that said so many years ago, Buyer Beware! It is as true today and it was when that phrase was coined.

I think one business charging more for the same thing isn't unethical, greedy maybe. If you want to see some wild swings in prices, go out and price new trucks. The same truck can vary thousands. I don't get mad at a dealer for overpricing, I just don't buy from them. Sooner or later, they will get in line. They can't eat all that iron.
