Stolen fuel!

Last weekend I was thinking that I may have had someone suck out some of my fuel from my boat. Here is why I think this.........

4th of July weekend I filled my 160 gallon tank...$370. I drove approx 4 hours to B'ville to party. I burn less than a 1/4 tank. That is when I had my engine problems and towed the boat home.

2 weeks later...last Thursday, I sea trialed the boat and put about an hour of running time on it to make sure all is well...still had 3/4 tank on the guage.

Then Saturday I went out with the family and only went up the Creek, about 2 miles idling and partied all day. Then at end of day idled back out and tied off on the Wall in Sylvan Beach for the night. I was rafted off and was the outside boat, 4 deep. We partied at the boats all night and I covered it up and got a ride home at about 1:30 AM.

Sunday morning my buddy that I was rafted off to brought my boat just across the canal and tied it off at the Beachhouse, where there was going to be a big party that day. He didn't take it for a drive.

All day Sunday the boats sat there tied off as we partied all day..had a blast. Later that night Momma wanted to go for a ride before I pulled it out. While I was running out on the lake, I noticed my fuel guage was reading in the red...almost on E!. I stopped and checked under the hatch to see if a fuel line came off and was pumping fuel into the bilge?????All is well. I had to come right back in.....I was out of fuel???!!!

I mentioned this to one of my buddies at the party and he said he was thinking the same thing about his boat. He filled his up...smaller boat, only $40 to top it off, and he only went across the lake and back. He should have only burnt 1/4 tank of fuel, he was pushing empty now. He also left his covered up on the Wall Saturday night.

And then......yesterday a guy came into my shop that also owns a boat. He said he saw me in the canal and then comes right out and says, "Someone cleaned out my boat". After asking him what he meant, he said he had gas stolen while it was on the Wall saturday night, and another guy HE was with, had a stereo stolen from his boat!

Someone has some big kahunas down there. There must have been 30-40 boats on the wall Sat night. I would have to think someone came down through there sometime after 2:00AM with a fuel transfer pump or something. I figure they must have gotten about 50 gallons out of me

Does someone make a locking fuel cap for a boat???

That sugs man !

Have had it happen to, with cars and boats.

But to make you think twice about getting a locking gas cap with a key is if you forget or lose your key. it happens and is likely to happen.

See if you can get a # dial one (turn dial like bike locks). Just watch out if you forget the #'s.

Sounds stupid but it isn't - it can be a major pain in the azz if you can't get the cap off when at the gas docks.

Maybe we can set them up for next time? :cl2: I do remember though, I once tried to get some fuel out of my own boat by siphoning. It was impossible! Not sure why, maybe the length/corners in the fill tube? I gave up after a few minutes of gagging.
I tried once too but the hose had to be loooong.

These azzholes could drain a boat tank with a long hose and a battery powered pump.

It IS set up time. I wouldn't advertize it on this site or any other though. You east end wall guys should PM each other to arrange for a set up. Who knows, could be a bad guy lurking here, or on other sites.

Best of luck....hope you catch the Fk'r :angry1:

Good info on the locking cap...I might invest in one. Thanks for posting it.

If you guys decide to do a set up and want/need some help by all means, let me know. I would LOVE to help catch the azzhole!!

Hey I can see if ya need a few gallons in the middle of the night to get her back home. Steal a few gallons and throw a $10 into the boat. But to drain tanks because you're too f'n cheap to buy your own........ :angry1: :angry1:
