What is the best hull "repellant" to put on if I am not going to put bottom paint on?

I have heard people talk to about Skat or Scat? I am looking for the best stuff to put on the bottom of my boat to help keep the algae etc from sticking? Not going to paint it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Only thing I know of is a trailer.... :laugher:
I was going to say that very damn thing, but I decided to hold back on my "wit".......job well done!

I use the teflon 3m as well and can complain. I have like 3 or 4 coatings on the bottom.

I can say this, the creek that my boat sometimes sits on, "****"ennango on Oneida Lake will stick to anything, including teflon.
I can say, to get teh green off before the teflon took acid washing, with the teflon, as long as I dont let it bake in, stuff comes right off.

I don't have big money!!! I am just a small fish in the big pond!!!

:winker:
The first boat I owned after I bought this house was an old Galaxy 21 foot 4 cylinder IO, which had no bottom paint. I thought I could use the boat that way and occasionally pull the boat and wash the bottom.

That boat grew a beard in about 3 weeks! I had the boat pulled, pressure cleaned and two part bottom paint applied.

Seven hundred dollars later I had my boat back. I sold that boat at the end of the season and decided at that time that I already paid a good chunk of the cost of a boat lift with bottom paint, so I spent 4 grand for my boat lift and never put any bottom paint on either of the two boats I have owned since that time!

The boat lift has already paid for itself just in reduced maintenance costs.

I could afford your hoist but not the boat to put in it ;)

Not going to be able to put it on a lift if I wanted to anyhow...so wondering if any of you have had any experience with any of the products like the Aurora?

Do any of them really work to keep the bottom clean or is it all a gimmick? The stuff isn't cheap but worth the investment if it really works.

Has anyone had any luck with any of the bottom waxes?

Thanks

GIMMICK!!!!

Last year or the year before on this site someone was fooling around with using that wax that is used for non-wax vinyl floors.
I don't rember who it was or how it worked out for themm ?
Maybe it was Hap ?

I used Aurora for two seasons. It won't keep stuff off your hull but it will slow growth down and make it easier to clean. I kept my boat in saltwater and scrubbed it every 3 weeks with a brush in shallow water. Took me 15 minutes for a 24 foot Baja. Never had to use acid wash.

Keep in mind temperature of the water makes a huge difference. The hotter it is the worse the growth will be.
Beyond all that you still have to worry about the outdrive, tabs, nooks and crannies etc.

If I had to do it over I would use the white Vivid paint that you buy at west marine.
