What's the Story Behind Your Screen Name?

This may be a fun winter activity. Many members have named themselves after their boats, which makes sense: boating forum after all, but what about everyone else?

I'll start:

In 2000, I was in Camp Fuji, Japan. I had some free time on my hands, so I decided to check out this internet/email thing. I went to Yahoo, and decided I wanted my email address to be my middle name, Tavis, but that was already taken. Tavis12 was available, so I took that instead. Jump to 2005 when I discovered this site, I needed a screen name that I could remember, I'd been using tavis12 for 5 years, and the rest in history.

screen name

I choose mine cause in the beginning i owned an rs 67 camaro that i was restoreing, but kids came along so the car went but the screen name remained. i need to change it since i know own a 79 corvette. Maybe ill wait till i get a new boat and incorporate that.

Named after my bike, a CBR 1100xx, It was the most extreme bike when I bought it in '98. Been using CBRXXTREME for email, and what not, just continuing it, don't think I'll ever change it, even if I do get a dumb
s#!t attack and sell the bike. Everyone knows me by this.

Mine screen name is my nick-name.
It was given to me by a weird co-worker who said I reminded her of Ichabod Crane from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Ichabod morphed into Iggy and it stuck.
And no, I bare no resemblance to him.

GEB was my screen name on match.com, where Jeff and I met. I picked that name because smart-sex-crazed-brick-house was already taken. :winker: When Jeff started this website, I couldn't think of anything else to use. :D

My father had a boat that was named C Team. This was during the A Team show on TV and our family being large and having a last name of Collins. I decided when I joined speedwake I would use that screen name. My first name begins with a C too, so it can be used either way.

Mines from my growing up and doing daring (boarder line safe) and stupid things, as well as taking my friends on some interesting boat rides they told me all the time that i was not all there and i just changed it to a nautical knot because it will be the name of my ideal performance boat ( when i get it).

My story is very similar GEB! I used Photochick on Yahoo.....where I met Zen. It's been my screen name for just about everything ever since :D

My old name came from my last boat "Grand Theft" That boat was stolen from the original owner and the Insurance company payed for it... Then it was purchased and repowered, and took on the name Grand Theft..

NOw Rock Steady, was voted on by the Boys and Girls of Speedwake, but I did like the name, and it won out by popular demand. Reasons: I am a Geotechnical Engineer, play with Rocks and Dirt.. So "Rock", then "Steady" came from the boat being Steady... Also my girl Gwen Stefani... and her last album "Rock Steady" SO this could be a small tribute to her and No Doubt..

Plus on the New boat we are Rocking out, and steadily going places.. :yak:

So here we are...

My first name is Mark... back a few years ago a friend of mine started calling me Marcus... then it was Marcus Wellby... and soon became Wellby. Since then I bought a Wellcraft... so I guess it all fits :a2:
