XM - Who's got it? Do you love it?

I know some of you folks must have XM or Sirius radio in your cars or boats. How do you like it? I've been looking into both of them. Right now I'm leaning towards XM. I've found an adapter that will let me control the XM (Or Siruis) with my stock BMW head unit. I think the price will be more then worth it just to eliminate the commercials!

So what are your thoughts? How's the Programming? And don't tell me to go with Sirius because they have 3 satellites or because they have Stern. Give me real reasons! Thanks, all....

I've had Sirius for almost a year now. Been very happy with it. Never had XM so I can't compare and don't really give a rats a$$ about Stern.

I use one of the portable systems and have a docking station in the truck, on the boat and in the slip.

On a side note, If you are into football, Sirius has the rights for the NFL. XM has the rights for Nascar (but it goes to Sirius in 2007 I believe. Not sure which ones have Baseball and Basketball.

Listening to it now. I've got XM. The unit is the Delphi MyFi portable unit. Take it in car, on boat, clip it on my belt at work, and use it at the house. I work about 4 miles from the XM broadcast studios so I get the terrestrial signal everywhere in the office building I'm in. :winker:

I don't miss the commericals and useless drivel of the local DJ's during the commute, can hear all the ball games, get to hear FoxNews, CNN, MSNBC, etc to get the latest news. You also have a seemingly endless choice of music stations.

I have XM and love it, Have a few friends who have had both and they say it is a toss up as to which is better. I made my choice based on price per month. Good Luck

I also have XM... but only in the car.. Was an easy upgrade. My deck was XM ready... Cost me about 80 bucks in parts and I put it in myself.. What a deal..

250 channels and its leaps and bounds better than standard Radio

Now I just need a different deck in the boat and I will upgrade that as well.. I love it..

Oh and I got the Playboy channel... for a little extra...

I think I pay about 15 bucks a month...

Excellent feedback. I think I might as well bite the bullet. My BMW deck is "sirius ready" but it looks like I'd need the same gear to make either service work. And that's to the tune of $200 or so if I install it myslef. I guess I better double check that, make sure it woudn't be cheaper to go with Sirius.

Right now I'm leaning towards XM just because they have twice as many listeners. All those people can't be wrong, can they???

I have XM and am really not happy with them. They just raised the monthly price 30%!! I got XM to listen to NASCAR when on the boat, now NASCAR is switching to Sirius! And of couse the kicker is, all those channels, and the wife has found ONE she likes!!! If I can break her of one channel it would be great though, but still not happy about the 30% price increase!!!
