Yeah, look for rot!

 

None that I know of that is just becuase of the brand...

You have to look for the obvious if the boat has been neglected for too long... There is usually reasons why things are so cheap, I am sure you know that.

Check the motor, run it, check the drive, and knock on the hull and listen for dullness or soft spots, pull off the bearing buddies on the trailer to check for rust, etc, check rollers/bunks... lots of things to look for... but it is a cheap thing...

 

Check the srtrngers in the engine area around the motor mounts, mine was very poorly sealed from the factory, and had some rot, the floors were also replaces in mine before I got it, other than that, it was a very nice boat for what it was, mine was a 1992 232 eclipse bowrider with the midcabin, chevy 350, and alpha drive. I added thru hiull exhaust, but it was difficult to get it below the platform(which my wife loved for hanging out on), so I ran them over. Also, it is a fairly shallow deadrise(vee), do it rides a little rough, but does ok on speed(close to 50 with a stock 350, and bottom paint).

got the boat, but can't get it to start...no spark....any ideas on what it could be? is there a dummy switch somewhere that i am not seeing?

i've looked around and cant find one on this boat.

 

There is no kill switch, just get yourself a mallory marine distributor like I did, and get rid of the merc ignition, problem solved.

 

so i got the boat and have taken on a project. got the motor running and everything gutted out of the boat.
laid some new floors and did some new wood in the cabin, and getting ready to do some paint.

I had a 1984 Wellcraft 210 Cuddy with 350/260hp. I absolutely loved that boat. Very nice riding for the size. Plus it had a cooler built in the floor. Genius.
