I own a Sun Runner 210B cuddy. Just wondering whatever happened to this company.I was told there was a recall on their boats and this led to their demise? I love these columns Thanks! :yak:
We also own a 86 23 SB and love it. We bought it a year ago, and have redone the interior complete and will finish top side this spring. We used her all last summer trouble free. Great ride, but wish she has P/S. Can anyone tell me the best way to add a windlass to her? It has the pulpit attached and am looking for the best mounting location. Cant wait for warm weather.................
Thanks, looks nice. I guess its a capstan type and the rope locker in the pulpit isnt used? Yeah, more hp wouldnt hurt, but mine with an AQ 231 and the Volvo OD with a 14x19 prop isnt too bad, just lazy outta the hole! Playin with the tabs really helped, and timing it the old fashioned way helped too! ..... Bob
Its an aluminum capstain elec. windlass with chain & smooth rollers. Its sits just in front of the opening for the anchor locker. The locker is used in my boat but it gets the inside all wet because of the way the locker drains. Straight into the cuddy... what a stupid idea! I'm going to glass in the locker and put a thru-hull drain in.
I also have a serious leak issue with the engine vents letting water into the engine bay when it rains, and it rains a ton here... I have yet to come up with a nice looking solution, and have ended up with water up to my ps pump after leaving it for a month over the winter(brand new bilge pump switch died). Any brilliant ideas anyone?
Yeah, I had the same problem. I had the problem not so much with the vents, but the opening in the deck where the hoses pass thru. I ripped down some 5/4 oak, and framed the openings with it so the water makes it to the deck drains. Hope this helps..... Bob
Thx Bob. I think I'll make some fancy covers for the vents to use during storage, maybe out of matching sunbrella faric.
Another Q about these boats, I cant find any hull specs like deadrise #s etc.... I'd like to get an Idea of how fast I can make this boat go without it becoming unstable. It criuses at 27ish now with WOT at 36 GPS. Sad. I'd like a criuse speed of 40- 45 but dont know if its too much to ask of the hull design. Boat is dry weight 3900lbs, sbc with alpha leg. I have access to a 375hp new motor. Too much maybe? I'm new to the bigger boat world, my other boat being a 185 seaswirl BR with OB power. I really like the whole sunbridge cruiser idea because I have kids, but am addicted to speed and noise too...
375 hp... Nice! Dead rise you can pretty much figure with a level and a protractor. Id be more concerned at where the new motors peak torque/hp rpm. 40-45 should be no problem with the right prop. Trim tab use should keep it stable. Windy/choppy days might be an issue with these boats high freeboard. Have fun!... Bob
hmmm level and protractor you say. Very technical, but I'll give it a try : I'll post the build specs on the motor later but suffice to say it was built for the automotive shop owner next to me by a very reputable machine shop. I want something reliable too so I wont be half-assing this one. BTW I have trim tabs on it now. It gets up on plane in ~ 8 sec with a full family and camping gear for a week
I have a 1990 SunRunner Ultra 31.6, probably one of the last that were made.
I am having trouble sourcing a replacement rubber seal under the windshield. The windshield has rounded corners and a door in the centre.
Any help would be appreciated.
New to the forum and looking to make a trade with a local guy for a 1988 23 foot Sunrunner that we've found but I was wondering why some advertising for these boats suggest they are made by Sea Ray?? Are they??
I have a 1989 235 Sunrunner Weekender Would this be one of the American Built ones or not? You can see a pic of it if you go to my Profile its the dark blue and white boat. i have always thought it was big for the length that is marked on the title, it is registered as a 22'er but measures 28. i really enjoy this boat but it could use some more HP, the power plant is a Chevy 305 about 180hp with a dual prop Volvo penta OD. Very smooth ride i can run her pretty hard in 2-3 footers, most of the time I keep her wide open about 30mph in anything under 3 footers. I have thought about building a 350 getting about 400HP and dropping it in, not sure what the outdrive can handle or how the boat would handle it either. I have been told the Volvo Penta can handle up to 500hp. I will post some pics in a bit.
Monsterz, there is so little info available about these boats that anything you would care to share would be of interest. Do tell us some of those stories.......... Bob
My son and I just bought a 1980 sunrunner 20 or 21 ft with a cuddy cabin.
Don't know much about the boats but I liked the lines and the fact that it has a small block Chevy. I'm also a hot rodder and have a few engines around.
Bought the boat over the 4th of July weekend at Lake Mc Conaughy in Nebraska.
Took it out and it performed really well. I was suprised. It seems to have been well mantained.
I was hoping to find an owners manual and/or a wiring diagram. Can anyone help?
I have a few bugs to work out, but am really satisfied. After reading everyone's comments, I'm even more satisfied.
Can anyone explain the different models and what was available in 1980? Does the published length include the outdrive or bow to stern only?
I can tell you that the published length is bow to stern, mine is a 235 and from tip to tip it measures 27 1/2'. take the anchor deck and swim platform off and it is 23'5" exactly. i don'r really now that much about the boat other then if you google ones for sale they are listed for a pretty good $. the only two that match my boat model are listed for $14K and $17K.
